Creative Thinkers

Since Lockdown has gone on way longer then we had thought Room 11 is starting to take learning to a whole new level. We are doing our class work and online meets, but we are also learning to do new things like cooking, cleaning, building, creating and so much more.

Look at what we have been up to!

Bright Thinkers

Room 11 is full of bright thinkers- students who problem solve, are creative and work hard both in class and online. Miss Johnson has been so impressed by the fantastic work she is seeing from her students.

Check it out!

Superhero Work!

Check out the work we did during our Superhero themed week of online learning.

We are so proud of all of the work that Room 11 have been sharing online. We love the challenges and some of the ideas we have come up with.

Online Learning Week 7 Term 3

Check out some of the awesome online work we have been doing during Week 7 Term 3.

Can you tell us which work you like or would to try at home. We would love to heard what you think.

Miss Johnson has brought some online stamps to mark the online work that is being sent to her during lockdown. She is very impressed with the work she is seeing. Check out the work you have shared with her and see which stamp you received today!

We have loads more stamps so keep up the great work and see which one you get next!

Lockdown

We are back in Lockdown again and working together online to continue learning. Yesterday we had our first online Google Meet session. It was great to see everyone and especially nice to see everyone happy and smiling.

Yesterday some of us started keeping Lockdown Journals to share out experiences in lockdown and to continue writing everyday. Some people even included photos of their day. Here are some of the photos from Room 11 about what they got up to on the first few days of lockdown.

Check them out!

Aiden P created a military boat out of Lego with his Dad. Aiden also told us that his Dad was telling Dad jokes- we can't wait to hear some of these.

Skylah-Rose and her family created an obstacle course at home. What a great way to keep active, while having fun at home with your Lockdown Bubble.

Buy Schleich : Rabbit Hutch at Mighty Ape NZ

Mila learnt all about the Periodic Table with her family at home. Then she played with her new Schleich bunny set that she got just before lockdown started.

Arielle and her brother spent time organising and cleaning their playroom. Sorry the only pictures we could get were sideways!

Miss Johnson feels very lucky to have a swing and slide set at her house so her son gets to play outside. She has enjoyed reading all of our posts and see all of our work! She is very proud of how well we are working but also how responsible we are being about attending our online classes.

What have you been doing during Lockdown?

Harold

We had a very busy Monday this week. We got to spend time in the Life Education Classroom where we meet Harold and Britney. Harold asked us to do an important job for him. We had to sort and put away his groceries according to their food group.

The groups were

- Fruit and Vegetables

- Grains Products

- Milk and Milk-like Products

- Proteins

- Sometimes Food

I wonder if you could think of some food that would belong in each of these groups and add them in the comments below?

Soccer Taster

On Monday we got to have a go at learning new soccer skills and playing a game in the inflatable soccer field. We learnt some of the rules in soccer. We learnt to dribble the ball and how to work cooperatively in a team. We had great fun and it was awesome to see everyone giving it their best. Well done Room 11.

I wonder if you know what it means to dribble the ball?

All about the human body

Room 11 started their first lesson of our syndicate rotation on Tuesday. We are looking at our school topic of Balance. Miss Johnson showed them all about the organs in the human body and what their job was in keeping us healthy.

We looked at the lungs in a lot of detail and students used balloons and straws to make a model of our lung so we can use them to help us explain how the lungs work.

I wonder how much you know about the human body?

How do our lungs help us?

What can we do to help our lungs be strong and healthy?

Room 11 have been altering our disguises to see how we can keep our image private. We have also learnt how to block out information in other images that we can block out specific information like children's face, licence plates and letter box numbers.

Can you guess who is hidden behind the disguise?

Escape the Library

Ms Thompson made an exciting escape room in the library. She locked us in the library, with a chain on the door and we had to work in groups and then together as a class to escape. There were clues and padlocks, and hidden activities that we had to complete. This was to encourage us to work as a team.

Cybersmart Visual Blog Profile

Room 11 have been learning all about how to stay safe online. This includes the type of information that we can share and the type of information that is inappropriate to share and should be kept private.

We then create a visual blog profile, which required us to use a lot of different computer skills to make. This is all information that is safe for us to share.

Room 11 had a great time completing this task. A lot of children discovered a new skills. Some of us struggled with these skills at first, but with the support of our class mates and Ms Cameron we were able to complete our task.

This activity was designed and shared with us by Ms Cameron who is our Cybersmart teacher.

How do you think we went? Did we share information that we shouldn't have? How could we make this more engaging for our reader?

Unusual ANZAC Heroes

Room 11 did some research to find out about different ANZAC heroes. We discovered that not all heroes were humans! In fact a lot of different types of animals were used during the war to help support our human soldiers.

Check out our research and reports that we have written. Can you notice that a lot of children are learning to write using paragraphs and to include research into their writing.

Pop Art By Room 11!

We looked at the artist Roy Lichtenstein who found his inspiration for Pop Art from comic books. We used his style of Dot Art to create these self portraits.

Collaborative Task

Room 11 worked in collaborative groups to solve an open ended problem.

A builder had 24 metres of wood to build a fence to go around his house. Use cubes to show the different ways you can create this.

Look at how we went!
